walking while staring at your smart phone
Last week I saw a man that neglected to see that he was not supposed to cross the street because of moving traffic, decided to continue walking because the car in the closest lane to the sidewalk did not go because the driver was staring at his phone.
The guy walked past the car that was supposed to be driving and a oncoming car missed him by about 6 inches.
I caught up the guy and said, “do you know you just almost got killed?” The guy looked at me and shrugged his shoulders and went back to looking at his blackberry.
The week prior I saw two car accidents, and a pedestrian get hit in the middle of the street because people were on their phones. One wreck was fairly bad involving 3 cars, that one I know was due to texting and driving.
Here is a brief story about walking and staring at your phone.

Don’t want to pay taxes?
Well just be sure to turn down the help of the police or fire department if your house is burning down or someone is breaking into your house.
Next time you drink water from the tap, add a little arsenic to it and see how it tastes.
Oh you want run a business and have a chance to make to make millions of dollars, just be sure to withhold your money not pay for a military to protect you from invasion.
Oh the next time you want your plumbing to work? Next time you use the bathroom flush some sand down it and see how you enjoy using it the next time. Oh you like plumbing?
Oh if you lose your job, and you need a little help or a tornado hits your town don’t ask the federal government for a food assistance program or federal aid to rebuild your city.
Ya, people don’t enjoy taxes, but aren’t you glad you can take a road trip on roads by tax dollars to Vegas so you can blow all your cash on gambling and strippers?

Want to get the blood flowing
Having the urge to feel alive? I will tell you what gets the flow going. Running at 9,100 feet through wooded trails. That will wake the senses. Hitting stride things start to cook. No cars, stop lights, mini marts, just trees and snow capped mountains. The lungs will remind you how hard they are working at high altitude.
This will kick start any feelings lethargy.

A can of soda
There are 40.5 grams of sugar in a 12 oz can of Coke.
Drinking one Coke a day for a year results in the consumption of 32 pounds of sugar.
Drinking one Coke a day, instead of an equivalent amount of tap water, for a full year would cause you to gain 18 pounds.

social media (namely twitter)
Is destroying the value of anything meaningful. People are so inundated with information from their twitter feed, e-mail, on-line newspapers, instant news sites it is watering down information that has importance.
Oh, another article about global warming, oh another article about starvation, oh another article about the cruddy economy, oh another article about off shore drilling, oh another article about some guy killing people in a poor country….it goes on and on.
I am afraid people will lose sight of what needs to change or how people can help. America is going down the tubes and big news is the Octa mom is posing in a bikini or how Mitt Romney bullied a kid in high school.
So two things are happening, too much information, and the information that gets the most coverage is gossip news. American news hardly covers international news EVER.
Something has to change, but what is it exactly?

Health nuts vs. the haters
It is interesting that many people that are attempting to eat toward a healthier life style take so much heat for it.
I guess for many they cannot see that the American diet is about the worst thing for you. Large portion sizes, soda on every corner, and fast food galore. Diabetes is becoming an epidemic, obesity is a severe health problem of which everyone pays for.
Just think, fewer doctor visits, controlled weight, stable moods by avoiding stimulants and sugar spikes.
If you eat healthy, limit your meat intake, eat organic as much as possible, avoid sugar drinks, designer coffee, and alcohol. Be proud of eating healthy and don’t be shy about it. You are not only helping yourself but you are also helping your community.
Just think moderation. If you enjoy wine or coffee by all means enjoy it just don’t over indulge.
One other benefit of eating clean and healthy is living a quality life in your 50′s, 60′s, and 70′s.

How to change your life
There is no need to read a 300 page book or pay some guy $10,000 dollars a month to be your life coach. Some life coaches are $35,000 a month. C’mon man!
It is key to develop consistent daily habits. If there are 3 habits or behaviors you want to develop into your reality you need to wake up every morning and visualize it as if it is already in your life. Do this right before you go to bed. More on this later.
Here are things you can do to change your life.
1. Get the sun in your life. If you live somewhere that is cloudy and rainy all your life it will impact you. The mind and body need the sun, the sun represents life. Without there is no life. If you have to move.
2. Separate yourself from drama and dysfunction that may reside in your life. It’s like a disease, it poisons your insides and sucks you dry. Do whatever you have to do to get it out of your life. Carefully choose the people that are in your inner circle. It can make or break you.
3. Eat as clean as possible. Eat as much green foods as you can. Limit red meat, eat organic as much as you can afford. Tubers and vegetables are key. There are a millions recipes on line for simple veggie dishes. Start your morning with Chia seeds and a apple. Eat almonds for a burst of energy. Get Avocado in your diet if you eat little or no meat. Avoid coffee if possible, it dehydrates you if you miss a cup you start getting headaches and impacts your mood. If must drink coffee, try drinking just 8 oz vs. the standard 12. Avoid soda, energy drinks, designer coffee, and really any bottled juices. DRINK WATER throughout the day!!!
4. Cut expenses to eat better foods. Cancel your fancy phone contract and get virgin mobile, 30 bucks a month. You can get smart phones if you need one. Too many people say they don’t have money to spend, but find ways to get out for drinks 3 times a week, have every channel known to man. Get clear on your priorities. Sometimes it means giving up routine habits. That is where the morning and nightly practice comes in. Take a snap shot of your expenses and see where you can shave it down.
5. Limit alcohol and drug intake. Alcohol is a depressant, you may think it makes you feel better but it actually makes you feel worse. Drugs create an all out assault on your emotions and moods. You will be swinging up and down all the time. You are not able to develop stable moods, this not affects the individual but the people around them.
6. Find ten minutes twice a day to just breathe. Put away the distraction device (smart phone) unplug from all the tasks and to do’s and just breathe. You can close your eyes or leave them open….doesn’t matter.
7. Take pressure off of yourself, which creates stress. Stress kills, it wreaks havoc on your mind and body. Life is brief, are going to worry about buying a house, wondering how you are going to retire, how you are going to get that new car, or pair of shoes? take the pressure off of meeting the one, having the perfect wedding, having the perfect outfit, having the perfect life… There are things to be conscious of, but don’t let it overwhelm you.
8. Take off pressure by sinking into the present moment. Typically you will be hard pressed to find areas of lack in the present moment. Just sink in and look at your surroundings and see the simple silence that is present. Life doesn’t have to be complicated, the mind is very good at overwhelming you and finding many “problems.”
9. Fitness has to be part of your routine, the body was made to move so move it! If you can’t afford a gym, go outside and run. You can go on you tube and learn simple push ups, burpees, and lunges. Don’t find excuses find solutions. If you can’t run find a routine you are able to do.
10. Focus on yourself, and don’t too caught up other people’s lives. Limit the gossip you hear or talk about at work or family circles. This doesn’t mean not helping others, but take care of yourself so you are able to serve others.
Find a 3 X 3 flash card and write out what you want in your life right now. Write down 3 to 10 things. Read this card every night before bed and right when you wake up. Visualize it feel it your bones, and then let it come. Some things may take very hard work to bring about, don’t shy from blood and sweat. Make sure they aren’t too outlandish at first. Start with things that will stretch you but as you see attainable. As you begin accomplish things you want to change start visualizing bigger wants. However, never lose sight of the present moment, because that is all you have. The quality of your present moment will determine your quality of life. Material wealth will never fill the void. The void can only be filled right now, right at this very moment.
Simple things could be:
drinking more water each day.
Making your bed or straightening up your work desk at the end of each day.
Stop drinking coffee.
Walking 20 minutes a day or running 20 minutes a day.
Saving $25 dollars a month
